SUPER FIDUCIAL GENERATOR

The Super Fiducial Generator provides a precise event start marker, with variable width and high fan-out capability.

It is designed around a three bit programmable delay generator. The seven programmed states are increased an additional two steps, by use of the on-chip enable function and external gate propagation delays. Two comparators serve as the trigger polarity and level detectors, thus allowing a single front panel control in place of the traditional dual knob function.

The external/internal triggers are steered through gates, eliminating that switch. The internal O/S is on the Power ON/OFF switch, and is enabled by the extreme CCW freq. control, which makes for an exceedingly versatile and simple front panel design.

Fast pulse techniques are implemented throughout, wherein signals are "cold switched" from the front panel via gates. This feature plus state of the art devices contribute to less than 30 ns. throughput delay. Jitter (delta T) is undiscernable on a Tektronix 475 oscilloscope, set at 1 ns sweep.
